Site History// Fallen Lorelei's story of existance
There isn't much of a story about Fallen Lorelei. I used to have many websites (Sequin Eyes, Arcane Dream to name my old domains. I'm not going to even try listing my subdomains ^^), but with school came the lack of time to keep updating them. My interest in web design dwindled. Sequin Eyes got hacked into many, many times, and after the fifth time I just didn't feel like fixing it anymore. I let the domain expire in January '08, along with Arcane Dream late the previous year. I have had them for about five years, and it was an empty feeling not having any webspace to do my thing.
But then I got the drive to start designing again. Not so much coding layouts (or I'd have made another graphics site) but to make something. Creating a blog/personal/portfolio site was what I decided on because I can expand on a personal site easily. If I ever wanted to start making layouts again, I'm free to do so ^^.
The site was created on January 10th, 2008 and took two days to "complete" (make the first layout and webpages). I chose the lovely Janet of X-Tenshi.com because that site was around back in the day when I was a fellow WebMistress, and it is still being updated, which I find absolutely amazing.

The name Lorelei has a lot of sentimental value to me (it isn't my real name). From the time I was born til elementary school, both my mother and grandmother called me Lorelei almost nonstop. At one point I actually thought that was my name. It wasn't until I had to go to school when I had to be called my real name again and "Lorelei" was soon forgotten.
I was reminded of the name once again early in High School and I had a crazy flashback to the good old days. I discovered that Lorelei was the name of a famous Siren that sung to lead sailors to their deaths. Being a singer myself (not so much a heartbreaker), the coincidence made me fall in love with the name.
I've been using it as a nickname at forums and MMORPG characters, and eventually the title "Fallen Lorelei" came up. Therefore, I decided to call this site that!

Okay, it's not really abstract. I tried to give it a Floating Island kinda feel. You know, a mysterious island in the sky shrouded by clouds or something. Instead it came out really... Hawaiian. But I really like it ^^ The colors are so pretty! I'm not one to put pink in layouts, but I couldn't help it this time. I'm notorious for darkness or monotonous gray. There's gray in this layout, of course, I'm in love with that color. And there's blue! Blue and brown. Simply lovely. I really do like this layout. ^^
